HANSA Institute (the formerly Korean American Research & Development: KARDI) is a nonprofit organization registered with the Office of the Secretary State of Illinois, in March 2005.
HANSA's board of directors is consisted of sociologists, former journalists, business leaders, attorneys of the Korean American community of Chicago. In addition, HANSA's research committee is served by half-dozen social scientists, who are actively involved in or retired from educational/ governmental institutions.
The purposes of HANSA are to conduct research on issues related to the Korean community in the United States to promote educational and training opportunities in the community, to advocate the issues of the community to public and private entities, to protect and promote Korean American's civil rights and welfare, and to develop resources and means that are needed in achieving prescribed goals to enact above said purposes.
